Anya Hindmarch presents The Domino Effect

Fuelled by 1,356 cups of tea, the quintessentially British accessory designer Anya Hindmarch made herself the Willy Wonka of fashion land with a unique and colourful presentation of her new season collection. Filling a warehouse behind Marylebone Road with 50,000 dominoes, the designer proceeded – with the help of an expert crew – to reveal the Albion, a rectangular tote crafted from heat-sealed leather, the Bathurst Satchel, updated by a shoulder strap, and a number of designs adorned by the tassels that proved so successful last season.

The animatronic production, which saw the dominoes tumble down a staircase in a rivulet that set off a chain of motion, with podiums emerging from the sweetie-like stacks introducing Hindmarch’s beautiful designs, cleverly reflected the process undergone to get from initial ideas to final outcome. Taking the board-game pastime and adorning clutches with backgammon, domino and disco-ball motifs, the designer certainly captured a playful feel with her collection. I can see it now, this winter will be one spent by a log fire, luxuriating in the British indulgence of tea and biscuits and hours spent delighting in the wonders of Scrabble, Monopoly and Ludo.
