LFW AW13 to host the launch of Rihanna for River Island

If I wasn’t excited enough about the fact that a new season of style is preparing to strut its stuff down the world’s noted runways in a matter of weeks, news that the Rihanna for River Island collection will be unveiled at London Fashion Week has just tipped me over the edge.

One of the most hotly anticipated collaborations of 2013, the collection formed between the international superstar and fashion retailer is due to be showcased at an event on Saturday 16 February courtesy of the British Fashion Council. Ben Lewis, CEO for River Island, expressed the brand’s excitement at partnering with one of the world’s most talented and talked-about musicians. He said: “We are very excited to present our Rihanna for River Island collection at London Fashion Week. This is the perfect platform to showcase Rihanna’s design talent and ambition.”

Beautiful clothing – of which the only peek we’ve been afforded was the midnight blue jumpsuit modeled by the singer herself a couple of months back – and accessories designed by Rihanna for Spring/Summer will have their first ever unveiling to the world’s media and the star’s fan following at the exclusive presentation. Ahead of her designer debut, Rihanna said: “Launching at London Fashion Week is a dream come true for me. I have wanted to design my own collection for a long time and to present my collection for River Island alongside all of the other great design talent at LFW is a real privilege. I can’t wait to see the reaction from my fans and the fashion press!”

Word of the collection first slipped through the fashion boards last July, so I and my fellow fashionistas can breathe a sigh of relief to hear our wait is almost over as Rihanna for River Island will hit UK stores on Tuesday 5 March. The collection will also be available online and exclusively in the United States and Japan at Opening Ceremony.
