Dsquared2 is launching its first ever line of childrenswear! I am beyond excited by the news that twin brothers Dean and Dan Caten are extending their unique mix of Canadian sensibility and sophisticated Italian tailoring to a collection exclusively for mini fashionistas.
“It’s baby time! As time passes, the Dsquared² family continues to flourish,” read a release from the design duo. “Our customers have grown with us – now their children are also in need of cool and fun outfits. With this junior line we are finally answering the request of our clients: to create a real “total look” for the entire family.”
Due to make its debut for spring summer 2014 at the Pitti Bambo trade fair in June in conjunction with the label’s mainline collection; the line will be produced by Brave Kid, the childrenswear manufacturer owned by Renzo Rosso under his Only the Brave umbrella label which also produces the John Galliano and Diesel junior lines. The new line from the Milan-based fashion label will offer clothing and accessories for girls and boys with sizes ranging from newborn to 14 years old.
But that’s not all, complementing the clothing collection will be a line of children’s footwear produced and distributed by Italian shoe manufacturer, Andrea Montelpare. “We are delighted to announce this new collaboration as we had been talking about for a while now,” said Montelpare. “We are eager to share our expertise and experience when it comes to baby/junior footwear. Soon enough, children will be able to wear high quality, 100 per cent made in Italy, stylish and fun shoes that interpret the spirit of the brand.”
So, I will be booking flights to the brand’s flagship stores in Milan, Paris and Tokyo pronto to get my hands on the collection, though it will also be available in select department and speciality stores around the world.
