It’s coming… Global Kids Fashion Week

I am beyond excited to announce that next year will see the first ever fashion week exclusively for mini fashionistas. Hot on the heels of London Fashion Week, the first Global Kids Fashion Week (GKFW) will host a series of runway shows and performances, exhibitions, industry talks and activities over a thrilling three-day schedule from 18-20 March 2013.

The product of a partnership between Camila Batmanghelidjh, founder of children’s charity Kids Company, and Alex Theophanous, CEO of the global style destination for the style savvy mini youth, which hosts over 200 global brands including fashion labels Burberry, Chloe and Dolce & Gabbana; GKFW will showcase collections of premium children’s fashion from both seasoned designers as well as the newest names in the industry. London’s Freemasons’ Hall will act as the event’s central hub and the schedule will feature two main shows, an exclusive media and VIP event offering a preview of the AW13 collections as well as a second ticketed event for the public revealing looks for SS13 from

The London event is the first in a number of international Kids Fashion Weeks to be held, with mini fashionistas in Australia, the Middle East and the US also being treated to a turn on the FROW. Theophanous said of this revolutionary event: “Kids’ fashion is playful, fun and innovative – we all believe it deserves its own dedicated platform, which is why we are so proud to be supporting the very first Global Kids’ Fashion Week. With this event, we aim to put children’s fashion on the map worldwide.”

Alongside the runway offerings, there will be a selection of fun family activities incorporating workshops from the V&A and the Museum of Childhood, as well as a performance from the London Children’s Ballet and an interactive bloggers lounge for writers such as myself to report direct from the sartorial action. The full schedule will be revealed at a later date.

Proceeds from all ticket sales to the public show will be donated to Kids Company charity.
