Designer and founder of Fashion Angel, the mentoring initiative providing fashion businesses with expert support, Alison Lewy is launching her new book Design Create Sell this week. A guide to setting up and running a successful fashion business, the book aims to provide readers (and potential style entrepreneurs like moi) with an overview of the fashion industry, its mechanics and handy insider tips. Hot on the heels of London Fashion Week, with every sartorially-minded individual thinking of nothing else but their own creative debut, Lewy offers them the tool to take those ideas and turn them into something tangible.
The demand for British fashion is at an all-time high, as reflected in the quality of the talent emerging year on year, and so too the fashion labels being set up in their wake. Due to be published on 30 September by Brightworld Publishing, in partnership with Country Living Magazine, the book will highlight the issues budding fashion designers ought to be contemplating before taking the leap into business. Lewy teaches her readers how to carry out the proper research needed for their business plan and model, and offers practical advice on building their brand, getting their product made, and then employing marketing and PR to strategically place and sell their line.
The Fashion Angel founder said of her literary guide:
“Setting up a new business is difficult and the fashion business model is unique and has its own challenges. I wanted to draw on my background of running a fashion brand, and experience of working with and mentoring designers, to produce a practical step by step guide to help fashion labels start, develop and grow their businesses.”
I will be sitting, fingers poised over my laptop to get my very own copy at http://www.brightwordpublishing.com on Sunday!
